Hi, I’m Jeff, and I first want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this blog and embarking with me on this journey. Let me share with you the reason why I created this platform.
As probably is fitting for someone who is going to write a blog and try to help educate people on a topic they may be unfamiliar with, my first passion is teaching. By day I am a high school teacher who absolutely loves mentoring and teaching young people while helping them develop and reach their greatest potential. As a science teacher by trade beautiful writing is not my forte but I know how to write a good sentence. Or at least, I think I do. But hey, even Shakespeare had to start somewhere, right?
I allude to my background in teaching because this is one of the areas in my life where the call to create this community stemmed from. As a teacher, I’ve seen firsthand the increasing prevalence of mental health conditions in teenagers. It’s heartbreaking to see young people struggle with anxiety, depression, and other conditions that can make it difficult for them to function in their daily lives. And it’s not just teenagers – mental health conditions affect people of all ages and backgrounds; which brings me to my second and most prevalent reason for getting up the courage to begin this community…
My wife is the most beautiful, caring, and loving person I know. She is also the strongest person I know, despite battling anxiety and depression for most of her life. Witnessing her struggles and the stigma that comes with mental health conditions has been difficult, but it has also fueled my passion to bring more awareness and conversation to this topic.
This blog is dedicated to my wife and to all those who suffer from mental health conditions. I want to create a safe space where families and friends can come together to share their stories, find support, and learn how to better support their loved ones.
But it’s not just about my wife – it’s about all the people out there who are struggling with mental health conditions. It’s about the parents who are trying to support their children, the friends who are trying to be there for each other, and the coworkers who are trying to create a more supportive workplace culture.
Through my journey thus far, I have seen firsthand the power of community and the importance of building stronger, deeper, and more understanding relationships. That’s why I am committed to creating a community of caring people who can come together to support each other and promote mental health awareness.
So, whether you are someone who struggles with a mental health condition, or a friend or family member who wants to learn more about how to help support your loved ones, I welcome you to join us on this journey of growth and healing. Together, we can break down the stigma surrounding mental health and build a brighter future for ourselves and those we love.
